Company Profile

National Grid

Sector: Utilities
Listing: UK

National Grid owns and operates a regulated transmission and distribution business across the UK and the US. National Grid’s regulated business contributes significantly to the groups operating earnings and its assets are natural monopolies in their geographies. The Company additionally owns stakes in various energy related businesses through its National Grid Ventures segment.

Investment thesis: Grid networks are at an investment inflection point as governments and regulators aim to modernise electricity networks to support long-term decarbonisation targets and to support future electricity demand growth. Supported by these tailwinds National Grid’s regulated asset base is forecast to increase substantially. Importantly, the capital investment plan is now fully funded internally and should translate to an attractive earnings growth profile over the medium-term.

Company Profile

The Renewables Infrastructure Group

Sector: Renewable Energy Infrastructure
Listing: UK

The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG) is a UK-listed investment trust focused on renewable energy assets across the UK and Europe. Its diversified portfolio includes onshore and offshore wind farms, solar farms, and battery assets. TRIG’s portfolio spans more than 80 projects with a combined net generating capacity exceeding 2.5GW, providing long-term, inflation-linked cash flows from regulated and contracted revenues.

Investment thesis: TRIG’s thesis is underpinned by the structural shift towards decarbonisation, electrification of industry and energy security. Its diversified asset base, visible cashflows and active portfolio management underpin resilient performance across economic cycles. As electricity demand increases and governments and corporates transition to net zero, TRIG is well-positioned to benefit from ongoing investment in clean infrastructure.
