In conversation with portfolio company Postworks - was the pandemic the cue businesses needed to go digital?
What does the future have in store for postal services? How are we re-imagining our current system in this digital era? Communications are an essential part of any business, so with access to the office and in-store postal systems being a no go for many businesses during the pandemic, a new approach to sending post was essential to keep businesses moving.
What does the future have in store for postal services? How are we re-imagining our current system in this digital era? Communications are an essential part of any business, so with access to the office and in-store postal systems being a no go for many businesses during the pandemic, a new approach to sending post was essential to keep businesses moving.
One of Foresight’s portfolio companies, Postworks, devised an innovative solution.
The Northampton-based Company, launched by James and Marvee-Lisa Booker in 2016, provides a cloud-based platform to send and receive post digitally. During the pandemic, when businesses were forced to reduce their office footprint, Postworks found that they were perfectly placed to support their clients. As businesses adjusted to remote working, the services provided by Postworks enabled teams to get out, and receive critical communications. They even helped to send out COVID letters - supporting getting the nation vaccinated.
In true lockdown style, we had a virtual coffee with the Company. Adam Huckerby, an Investment Manager in our Private Equity team caught up with Marvee-Lisa to discuss the digitisation of the economy, work during lockdown, and what the ‘new normal’ looks like for Postworks.
Foresight invested into Postworks on behalf of the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) in 2018. Since our initial investment, the Company has emerged as a major disruptor of the UK's traditional franking model with the technology to deliver scalable mailing services to a range of sectors.
